Creativity Motivation – What is motivation – Corey K Katir
Advertising From http://www.creativitymotivation.com Describes motivation process for creativity with emphasis on intrinsic motivation by Corey K Katir Would you watch a U.S. Open Cup draw? (Friday links)
From seattletimes.nwsource
Here was coach Sigi Schmid‘s reaction to the draw Thursday:
“I guess it’s a coin flip that’s taken place somewhere behind some closed doors, so we assume that’s the way it is. It’s all up to U.S. Soccer as to where they want to take the tournament. I know in the bidding process that they’ve had in the past, it probably made the tournament a little more financial lucrative for them than it’s been in the past. Obviously they felt that they wanted to change that, which is fine.
“I would like to see the draw be made a big thing like it is with the FA Cup in England. That’s a very public show. It’s something people want to watch. Whether it’s something that would be for TV, I’m not sure, but it’s something definitely that you could put on the U.S. Soccer website and people would be excited, and it’d get a lot of hits on the website, and things like that.
“If we go to Atlanta, we go to Atlanta. If we’re at home, we’re at home. We just have to take it as it comes.”
Back to potentially streaming or making the draw available online, what do you think about that? Would you tune in or do you just want to be given the results?
Let’s get to some links:

Sounders FC would host Georgia (NPSL) or visit Atlanta (NASL) in Open Cup third round
From seattletimes.nwsource
U.S. Soccer announced third-round pairings for the 2012 U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday afternoon.
Sounders FC, the three-time defending champion of the tournament, enters the field in the third round and will play the winner of a May 22 second-round match between the Atlanta Silverbacks of the NASL and the Georgia Revolution of the NPSL.
The third round is scheduled for May 29 and here are the potential scenarios for Seattle:
— The Sounders would have to play AT Atlanta (more than 2,000 miles away). The game would be at Atlanta Silverbacks Park at 4:30 p.m. PT.
— The Sounders would HOST Georgia at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila at 7 p.m. PT.
Seattle hasn’t played on the road in the Open Cup since a third-round game in Portland in 2010 (the last seven games have been at home). The Sounders clearly benefited from a closed-envelope bidding process in the past, but that has changed this year.
Here’s a reminder of the new process for determine a host in the early rounds, as stated in the U.S. Soccer press release: “The 99th edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup includes a random selection process for determining home teams from the first round through the quarterfinals among clubs that have applied to host. The process, conducted by a coin flip, gives participating teams with venues meeting tournament standards an equal chance at hosting their possible opponent for these rounds.”
Potential fourth-round matchups will be announced at a later date.
U.S. Open Cup kicks off (Wednesday links)

Locally, the Kitsap Pumas lost to Cal FC, 3-1, and you can check out the rest of the results here.
TheCup.us also is a great source for results and a bracket. According to the site’s Twitter account, it sounds like the third round pairings could be announced later today or Thursday morning.
Remember, the bidding process has changed through the quarterfinals. If Seattle’s third-round opponent meets the venue requirements and pays the required hosting fee, there will be a random drawing to determine which team hosts. Here’s a good primer on that process.
In the past, the Sounders have been able to simply outbid opponents to host early round games. Now that process doesn’t start until the semifinals.
