Advertising From http://www.creativitymotivation.com Describes motivation process for creativity with emphasis on intrinsic motivation by Corey K Katir A little perspective, and a 2010 plan
From feeds.latimes As sad as it was to see the Angels fail to play “their game” in the ALCS, what happened in 2009 still has to be put in proper perspective. They had a terrific season under trying circumstances, overcoming tragedy and…
Above all, poise was missing
From feeds.latimes In the end, the one thing the Angels were missing, above all else, was poise. The team that played so well, with so much confidence, in the regular season and the ALDS never showed up in the ALCS. Instead, we…

Reconsidering Lackey’s status
From feeds.latimes The consensus of most baseball people I’ve talked to is that Game 5 of the ALCS could be John Lackey’s last as an Angel, barring an unlikely three-win comeback against the Yankees, of course. As the most appealing pitcher in…
The Ace of (broken) hearts
From feeds.latimes The Yankees have an “Ace,” and the Angels don’t. Really, that’s been the difference in this ALCS so far. The Yankees’ CC Sabathia has dispensed two xerox masterpieces, a pair of dominant eight-inning, low-hit, one-run performances, and the guys who…

KERNAN: Yankees shouldn’t rush young arms to big leagues
From nypost.com Where’s Kernan?
Ivan Novaas performance Tuesday night (6 1/3 innings, one run in the 3-2 loss to the White Sox) is a reminder the Yankees need to stick with the kids, and that means continue to develop the Killer Bas a Manny Banuelos, Andrew Brackman and Dellin Betances.
Banuelos could be up with the Yankees after the All-Star break, which would give him ample time to develop in the minors. The Yankees have to give the youngsters time to grow and not rush them up before.
There are also some other talented arms down in the minors like Adam Warren and David Phelps. For now, leave the Killer Bas right where they are.
Warren, Brackman and Phelps are at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Banuelos and Betances are at Double-A Trenton. All of them need to get their work in before they get promoted. Rushing them now would not be good for anyone.
Banuelos (1.42 ERA, three starts) may be the most talented of the group and the Yankees are doing the right thing in giving him time to develop.
aHeas going to be something special,aa Alex Rodriguez told me. aHe reminds me of a young Johan Santana.aa
For now, continue the Yankeesa recycling program in light of Phil Hughesa dead arm woes.
Carlos Silva is stepping up his throwing program in Tampa and Kevin Millwood is trying to get it together at Trenton. Scouts say Millwood hasnat looked good, kind of like the same thing they were saying about Freddy Garcia, who is 1-0 in two starts with a 0.69 ERA. With older arms you just have to throw them against the wall and sees what sticks?
So far, GM Brian Cashman has hit the jackpot with Garcia and Bartolo Colon. Smoke and mirrors works sometimes and itas not like October is right around the corner. The Yankees have time to settle their pitching woes and they needed a strong start from young Ivan Nova last night.
Also, the upside here is that by putting a bit more weight on A.J. Burnettas shoulders, he may learn to take on the responsibility of what it takes to be No. 2 in the Yankeesa rotation behind CC Sabathia. This is good for Burnett. Heas the starter the Yankees are really going to need to step it up down the road.
Remember, this is all a process. Itas not about helping your fantasy league team, itas about getting the Yankees right when it matters the most and itas about getting the young arms right, something the Yankees development people have not always excelled at. They tried to do everything they could do soften Hughesa hard-landing in the majors and still there have been major problems with Hughes.
Listening to Hughes sit and talk at his locker Tuesday night, you had to feel for him because he has no clue why his arm is acting the way it is and at some point, it appears, the Yankees are just going to have to shut him down for an extended period of time.
For now, save the other young arms until they are really needed.
